The Re.1 PoS Service Fee on FBR Invoices Explained: What It Is and How It Shows on the Receipt
Why every FBR POS invoice shows a Re.1 PoS service fee, where it sits in the totals, a worked example, and what to ask your accountant.
Look at the bottom of any FBR POS receipt and you will find a small line: PoS Service Fee: Re.1. Customers ask about it, cashiers get asked about it, and accountants ask how to record it. This guide explains what the line is, how it changes the totals, and what to settle with your accountant.

Key takeaways
- SRO 1006(I)/2021 lists a PoS service fee of Re.1 per invoice as a required line on the FBR invoice.
- It appears after the discount and is added to the payable amount.
- Your POS prints it automatically; the cashier does not type it.
- How you account for the fee is a question for your accountant: PaakiShop shows it on the receipt and in the register totals.
What is the PoS service fee?
The standard FBR invoice format includes a line for a point-of-sale service fee of Re.1/- per invoice. It is part of the layout in SRO 1006(I)/2021, next to the sale value, tax and discount lines. Because it is a required line, every compliant receipt shows it, whatever the size of the sale.
Where it appears in the totals
The totals block of the receipt reads from top to bottom like this:
- Total amount: the sale value of the items, before tax.
- Sales tax: the tax charged on the items.
- Discount (if any).
- PoS service fee: Re.1.
- Payable: the amount the customer owes, including the fee.
- Received: what the customer actually paid.
A worked example
A customer buys three items. The prices are without tax and the tax rate is 18%:
| Item | Price | Qty | Tax (18%) | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basmati rice 5 kg | 1,850.00 | 1 | 333.00 | 2,183.00 |
| Cooking oil 5 L | 2,400.00 | 2 | 864.00 | 5,664.00 |
| Detergent 1 kg | 640.00 | 3 | 345.60 | 2,265.60 |
| Totals line | Amount (Rs) |
|---|---|
| Total amount | 8,570.00 |
| Sales tax | 1,542.60 |
| Discount | 0.00 |
| PoS service fee | 1.00 |
| Payable | 10,113.60 |

What to settle with your accountant
- How to record the Re.1. It is collected from the customer on the invoice, so decide with your accountant how it is booked in your accounts.
- Cash difference. If a customer pays the exact invoice total without the extra rupee, the receipt shows payable one rupee above received. Agree a simple counter rule for this.
- Credit notes. Ask whether the fee applies to a credit note for a sales return. PaakiShop's credit-note receipt does not add one; confirm the rule for your case. See how to post a sales return to FBR.
Not tax advice. Fees and notifications can change. Confirm the current rule with FBR or your tax consultant.
How PaakiShop shows it
PaakiShop prints the fee on every FBR receipt and shows Re.1 × number of invoices in the FBR register so you can see the total for the period. It is not something a cashier edits. See the layout in SRO 1006 invoice format explained and the finished receipt on the FBR digital invoice page.
